A way I have encountered race an really realized it was a little later in my first semester here at Agnes. For a group project my group and I had to walk down to the obelisk at the Decatur court house and take pictures of it and write down the scripture. While we were doing so a young white male approached the side of the obelisk I was on and kissed the statues walls and did a hail Hitler salute. Walking off back to his friends as they all laughed, another white young male walked forward and asked is what he did upset me. A little confused and shocked at what happened I ignored them. A group member of mine walked up and began to argue with the second male. Looking upon the crowd that was routing for the males, I saw a black male and black female. The black female looked as discussed as I felt and the black male was just laughing amongst the rest of his white peers. After about five minutes of my group mate and the second male arguing, we finally left. This was the first time I encountered race and even as I encountered it, I did not let it get to me as bad they would have wanted it to. I kept my stature and for that I am proud of myself.

Take a stand and stop making fun of the hate.
